Daniel Defense A1.5 Fixed Rear Sight

The lightweight, streamlined design makes this the optimum back up iron sight for shooters using today’s most popular reflex optics. Its well thought out design does not impede the use of the charging handle on M4 type rifles. The one piece design makes it easy to install to any Military Specification flattop upper receiver and the sight is secured to the upper using a slotted fastener which is threaded into a self locking steel thread insert.

Machined from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and Military Specification Hard Coat Anodized, this Fixed Back Up Iron Sight is both lightweight and durable.

Excellent KISS sight January 26, 2011

Sight installed on a light-barreled carbine set up to be light to carry, easy to shoot, with no electronics to fail.

With regard to the drawbacks mentioned in other reviews:

1) You can use a bullet tip to make sight adjustments, but it is much easier if you have a sight tool. The biggest mistake the military made on the M16 family of rifles was going to the A2 sight, which is too easy to "adjust." Once this sight it dialed in, you really don't want it to be able to be moved easily.

2) Elevation adjustments are made at the front sight, but they are crude, and rear elevation makes fine tuning easier. However you can accomplish the same thing if the elevation is not perfect by winding the sight up so that your groups are one click too low, then taking a narrow medium file and making adjustments are the front sight until elevation is perfect.

If you want a rugged KISS sight that won't be knocked off it's game this one is better than most and has a relatively low price tag.

First off I recieved it from SKD in three days.  Secondly this sight is perfect for running and gunning with or without and optic on, because of the fact you can't knock it off ZERO! Once you get a 25 meter zero you know it will hold true.  The one thing I have hated about other backup sites I've used in the past, is when I finally needed them the zero had been knocked off. Daniel Defense designed and Build this BUIS right!

I've used the sight on an LE duty gun for 6 months or so now and find it to be a nice, lightweight but solid piece of equipment.  

I have to agree with a previous review in that the sight is difficult to adjust for windage.

I've had one of these on an AR for several months now.  It is well made, very solid, and light.  The only reason I gave it only 4 stars is that the windage adjustment is very difficult to make if you don't have an A1 rear sight tool.  This is also a bit of a neither/nor since it doesn't fold down and doesn't have elevation adjustment - fold down would be good if it's truly a backup, and elevation would be important if this will be the primary sight.  With this you either have full-time cowitnessing with your red dot, or you have a very basic rear sight if you're not using an optic.  Still, it's a solid piece and a good value for the price.
