Eagle MC-CIRAS Land Armor Carrier

The Eagle Industries Combat Integrated Releasable Armor System (CIRAS™) is now the armor carrier of choice for USSOCOM (BALCS-R). The CIRAS is designed to allow the end user to rapidly jettison the armor platform. This aids in ease of use during WMD Decontamination, access to a wounded officer, as well as Maritime Operations.The CIRAS vest incorporates a single release cable (Pat. Pend.) that makes the assembly process easier than it's predecessors.

There are two versions of the Eagle CIRAS vest, the Maritime (CMS-MAR-CIRAS™) and the Land version (CMS-MC-CIRAS™). The Maritime version's cummerbund attaches under flaps that are on the sides. The Land version's cummerbund attaches under a single central flap. The CIRAS accepts SPEAR BALCS cut soft armor inserts, as well as a 10" x 12" SAPI or similar rifle plate.

  • Heavy-duty, abrasion and water resistant 1000 denier Dupont Cordura™ nylon exterior construction.
  • 1" Mil. Spec. webbing cross straps for mounting MOLLE pouches.

This is an expensive carrier, but it's well built, and puts up with a lot of abuse. It is as comfortable as can be expected and has good coverage to protect from frag while still being fairly low profile. MOLLE loops are stitched good and tight and don't snag getting in and out of vehicles. Like all other body armor now, you can hang as much stuff as you want off it, where ever you want but you are going to start getting big and cumbersome.
Stitching it together for the tear away feature is a little bit of a pain, but having the option to get out quick is good.

Extremely happy with this setup.  It has more real estate than Donald Trump.   Its nice to be able to have all your gear in one self contained package.   Though all that does come at a weight penalty.  

The cummerbunds are extreme rigid and do not flex when loaded up.

Complain, is the side mounted release pillow has ripped and tore TWICE.   Required sending to Eagle for warranty repair.   Eagle does stand behind their product and fix it, but still a BIG inconvenience.  

I still prefer soft armor carrier with a chest rig/plate carrier mainly for the increased comfort.

Overall I highly recommend the Land Version, however the Maritime is much better for mobility and quick donning.

Overall cant beat SKDs price and shipping with a stick!

this is defenitly the best and most comfortable vest in my entire life. the multicam complete my loadout.I never seen an armor carrier like this one , best quality ,tough material,threads,seams and the webbing is rough as a nail.. If you want to buy a good vest and the last go for it, it's expensive and you have to buy some good pouches too but it worth the price!!!  No more (made in china) for me ,just good quality to last for life... oh by the way it wasn't hard to get it adjusted cause i had experience with some COPY but take it easy and appreciate what you worked for ..now you can set your OWN VEST

........it is somewhat difficult to attach the cummerbund at the single front and center attachment point when you have a full complement of full pouches - mags, IFAK, etc. I recently switched to the Marine CIRAS and like the side attachment points better. Still a very nice unit!

This armor carrier is simply the best there ever was, is, or will be. I've used carriers from a ton of other companies and nothing comes close to the quality, workmanship, comfort, weight (or lack thereof in this case), modularity, mobility, and fit of the Eagle Industries CIRAS Land Armor Carrier!!! I've been using this armor carrier (in Multicam) with a combination of both soft armor and plates since September of '09 as a private security contractor in Baghdad and Tal Afar, Iraq with nothing but great results. For the ultimate in personal protection with comfort and mobility, look no further!!!
