HSGI Drop Leg Magazine Carrier, Single

The HSGI Drop Leg Magazine Carrier, Single Pouch is the smaller version of the Drop Leg Magazine Carrier, Double Pouch. Built off of HSGI's Diamond Mesh Platform, it maintains a firm and comfortable grip around the leg with little or no movement. It's features include: (1) Universal Magazine Pouch which will allow the operator to carry various types of magazine such as (3) M-4, or (2) AK, or (2) .308 magazines. Also may carry (2) M-4 mags with coupler, or (1) M-4 mag along with (1) M-18 Smoke Grenade within the pouch. The Universal Magazine pouch has adjustable shock-cord retension. Hook and loop and side release buckle closure as well as a silencer strip for quite opening of flap. The interior of the pouch has a stirrup design to seperate the magazines except for AK mags. This also allows to stagger the mags for easy extraction of magazines. This unit includes 2 standard size (double stack) pistol mag and 2 extended (1" taller) pistol mag style pouches to carry longer items such as mag-lights and folders. These pouches have the same hook and loop with silencer with side release buckle closure. The belt hanger is adjustable to fit the drop length the user desires. Being that this subload is smaller, the option to carry a knife sheath behind the rifle mag pouch is limited to a narrow sheath. Thers is approx. 2 1/2" usuable amount of space available. User will have to sew in a sheath if it is narrow enough to fit behind. The single 2" leg strap uses (replaceable) shock-cord for the leg strap retension rather than elastic which fails after a period of time. Constructed of 1000 Denier Cordura nylon, sewn with 135/138 bonded nylon threads. Constructed and made totally with materials from within the USA. Has HSGI Lifetime Warranty.

Very well thought out design June 30, 2011

I used this in a Tactical Carbine class and it performed great.  Mags were at the perfect height for me.  Never having done tactical/speed reloads before, the instructor was impressed with mine.

The design of the AR15 mag pouch was a great design.  One pouch that separates the mags, 2 mags together in one section and 1 mag staggered lower in height.  

It was a little tricky to get the mags into the pouch but once I played with it a bit, it became much easier.  I was using 20 round pmags...The pockets were designed for 30 rounders but I just stuffed some cloth into the bottom of the pouch to take up the extra room.

Stability was pretty good with the rig but I do admit that I wasn't running around during the class.  

My only gripe is that the silencing strips on the flaps don't completely cover the velcro(it covers about 99% though).  Which grabs a bit and makes noise when opening.

All in all...a great setup!

great product works great after finding out where it works on leg. holds 2 ar mags well can hold 3 but they are tight (p mags with pulls) dont know about gi mags

very well made rig exactly what I have come to expect from HSGI
I've used it with AR/AK mags(5.56-5.45-7.62) and G17 mags(also multi tool and G2)without any issues.
I have no doubt this will last well and is head and shoulders above other cheaper brands and well worth the low price!

I originally had purchased the HSGI double drop leg rig but found it to be a little heavy/bulkier than I wanted so I picked up this single rig and couldnt be happier with it.
if your on the fence do a little research of what else is available and come back here and grab this rig

I purchased the HSGI Drop leg 3 mag carrier for duties as a PRO Officer. I basically carry 3 levels of gear depending on the situation and response time. I purchased this drop leg as a first response active shooter "Grab and Go" rig. It holds 3 AR mags, pistol mag, smoke grenade and I use the others for misc. items.

I love the knife sheath and use it for a multi purpose knife/tac tool. I have a clip on my belt and can quickly grab this pouch and clip it "on the run."

The stitching is very high quality and I can forsee it taking a lot of abuse. This is miles above the other types of thigh rigs available at "Cheaper" sites and catalogs and well worth the extra $$. I wear the carrier during trainings and now have several others on the team purchasing the same rig.

SKD's customer service was excellent and shipping was faster than anticipated!

I was in the market for a decent subload carrier that carried 7.62 AK magazines along with a few extras. This subload will do that for a low price.

I have used the pouch with 2 AK magazines, 2 Glock 22 magazines, a knife, AK cleaning kit and an extra Surefire G2. I didn't worry about the carrier failing under the weight as the material is top notch and the stitching is high quality.

In addition to using AK magazines I have run the subload with x3 30 round AR magazines and I tested the system with x3 20 round AR magazines with no issues.

If your looking for a good quality subload that gives you options, the HSGI Drop Leg Carrier is worth every penny of the $60.00.
