HSGI Wasatch Plate Carrier

All *NEW* version Wasatch and Weesatch models come with single bungee strap kits (not to be confused with our exclusive double bungee retainers) instead of velcro flaps- instructions are included. HSGI Bungee straps can be adjusted when installed, and provide a single bungee pull tab release for 2 x M4 magazines or 1 x M14 or AK type magazine. All pouches are still lined with loop velcro, allowing you to still use original velcro flaps, or the SKD Double Bungee Retainers.

The WASATCH plate carrier was designed specifically for 19th SFG, whose operators needed a modular system to wear over their issue Interceptor body armor. The WASATCH can be worn over overt or covert soft armor, or as a stand-alone plate system. The front and back carriers will hold any 10"x12" flat or multi-curve plate on the market today. The XL version will fit XL SAPI plates. The rear carrier also has a separate internal compartment for additional storage or a hydration pouch, although for hydration we recommend considering an external hydration carrier, because an internal hydration pouch will fluctuate in size with use, and affect the fit of the waist belt. (If you plan on wearing the WASATCH over covert armor, or as a stand-alone system, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND the optional shoulder pads, as 90% of our customers who don't use them with overt armor, end up coming back to order the pads anyways.)

Aside from HSGI's top-quality workmanship, what separates the WASATCH from other plate carriers on the market are the internal magazine pockets that allow you to carry up to 12 USGI 30rd M16 magazines without adding a single external pouch (This feature alone makes the WASATCH one of the best deals on the market today!). These pockets are universal for other magazines (6 AK, 6 M14/FN, etc.), and since they are integral, you still maintain the ability to add more mission specific pouches.

The magazine pockets expose enough of the 30 rd magazines to be grasped quickly, and both front and rear magazine flaps are fully adjustable. The outer pockets can be used for a radio, handgun, smoke or flashbang grenade, etc.

The front plate-carrier bib offers further real-estate for mounting modular pouches to suit your needs. There are 4 side release buckles to offer you in-and-out access in a hurry. (For slimmer customers who plan on using the WASATCH as a stand-alone system, you can remove one of the two waist belts and clip-in at one location on the right side). All HSGI gear is made in the US with US materials, and comes with a lifetime warrantee.

Wasatch March 20, 2012

Great carrier. If you can lose the integration of Kevlar panels (CIRAS, RAV) or prefer a more slicked down approach this is perfect. Slimmed down, easy to move in and still plates front and back to cover what's important.

Highly recommend the shoulder pads and KYWI kydex inserts atleast for the pouches you use for magazines if you run an AR style rifle.

Other pouches carry smoke grenades, flashbangs, radio (MBITR, Motorola, Macom, etc) pressure bandage, etc in easy to get to and secure locations.

Also recommend attaching a hydration carrier to the rear to help balance the carrier. Otherwise the rear plate will ride a bit high.

HSGI is a small american company striving to create the best product possible. The wasatch fit every requirement I had.Its made of authentic crye-precision multicam cloth, its made for rough and rugged handling. The side pouches fit radios and ANPVS-14 units with  snugness that you can customize. The overall fit seems perfect for anyone. when you load out the wasatch,it is balanced.Plenty of MOLLE to combine hydration, trauma, and any other pouches you may want or need in your kit, after setting it up the wasatch has NEVER lost a mag no matter what angle or manuever Im required to do (even aussie rappel). Since I recived my wasatch I have tested its performance with a 12 magazines,SAPI plates, hydration carrier, trauma kit,and many others.Truly this little company had put many hours of design and professional experience into this carrier. SKD shipping was SUPER fast. ALl around a great deal on great gear.

Marginal June 14, 2011

Yes its a plate carrier.  If you keep the load even front to rear its ok.  When you run low on water in the hydration pack the from sags from the load.  There is buckles on the top sides of the front but nothing to hold them to the back at an angle to balance the front so it doesnt sag. When you tighten the waist belt ( the only thing holding front to rear ) the mag compartment gets super tight and you cant put your empty mags back with out using both hands.  This should be used with full combat load out and try to run the firing line and see you cant keep it from moving all over and change mags.  Sorry I wasted the money.  I have 2 other Chest rig/Plate carriers that have no problems with this due to the double side straps to keep them level no matter what load your running.

Good Value, Solid Product September 27, 2010
Reviewer: Robert Russo from La Vernia TX, TX United States
From the moment I opened the box, this vest impressed me with its quality. The unit is light, but once you fit your plates and 12 mags + anything you wish to attach w/molle then it will increase.

I decided on this vest as a compromise of protection and weight. With level 3 plates, 12 mags, medical kit, and a hydration pack, my vest weighs around 28 pounds. Adjustment are easy enough to make, so it wears well with evenly distributed weight (hydro/medical) on back to balance 12 mags on front.

For the money this is a tough vest with just what you need. Holds plenty of mags at the perfect spot with elastic retainers, plus 2 plates with room for trauma pads behind them.

You cant go wrong with this for a great blend of protection, ammo capacity, and speed.

Good Plate carrier, much more comfortable in comparison with eagle's one, and cheaper(pouches included). Shoulder straps should be added.
