Best mount in this catagory January 31, 2010

The LaRue Offset Mount is as good as anything with the name LaRue has to offer.  First of all it is incredibly light and solid.  All the quick release mounts LaRue offers have the ability to come off fast, but more importantly hold on the rail with a tight, rattle free mount.  It comes with one of three sized loops to accommodate most flashlights that are being used on the AR-15 platform.  The offset allows me to get a high forward grip on the gun while still having the ability to activate the light with my thumb when needed.  The price is not high considering what you get in this package.  A big thumbs up!

Best light mount on the market January 24, 2010

PROS:  Excellent build quality, unlike other offset mounts neither the light nor the mount presses the detent on a rail-mounted flip up front sight, QD detachment for changing placement or transporting in a case

CONS:  Price is definitely on the high end, but after purchasing two other mounts, this one is still the best even with a higher price.

I bought this after having tried a VTAC and one other off brand offset flashlight mount.  The VTAC is a great mount, but when mounted on the 3:00 rail to place the flashlight at 10:00 the mount pressed the takedown button my front Troy BUIS and my sight wouldn't stay up if it bumped into something.  I gritted my teeth and pulled the trigger on the Larue, and now I get what people mean when they say "buy once, cry once".  I should've bought the Larue from the start!
