Magpul 556 Magpul

Most Magpul customers these days don't even know what a "Magpul" is. While Magpul the corporation now practically owns the injection molded AR15/M4 accessory market with its premium cutting edge products, their humble beginnings started with this small thermoplastic loop of rubbery goodness that you slip on the bottom of an AR15/M4 magazine. Take a look at the Magpul corporate logo and compare it to the Magpul 556 and it all makes sense.

Invented by Richard Fitzpatrick, founder of Magpul Industries and a former Marine, the Magpul 556 Magpul cleverly eliminates the finger dance involved with trying to grasp magazines from duty/issue pouches. For those still running USGI mags, you no longer have to run para-cord through the bottom which blocks drainage and can rip out the floorplate. No more messy 100 mile tape on the outside of the mag body which leaves residue buildup. The Magpul even fits onto PMAGs and other aftermarket magazines. For around $3, you can have quick and clean access to your 30 rd. magazine, even when it is sandwiched between other mags in a tight pouch.

The Magpul's one piece rubber construction also protects your expensive magazines from getting banged up when dropped on concrete. Turn your Magpul 90 degrees and you have a lower profile pull loop and protection that runs the length of your floorplate. Even after over a decade of mind-blowing advances in the AR15/M4 market, the Magpul 556 Magpul is still relevant today as a product enhancement. If you've never tried it, you owe yourself to try what started the entire Magpul revolution.

These are great for what they are.  Great for getting mags out of a carrier.  No mods to mags necessary.

Works great June 2, 2014

Been using them on service/training/competition magazines since my first class almost 10 years ago. Never used the loop as a pull, but found the rubber along the sides and bottom of the mags (slid on sideways, or "SKD- style" I'm told it's called) to be great for extra grip for drawing, reloads, malfunctions, and Tac loads. Well worth the modest price, and adds virtually no weight.

magpul mag assist June 2, 2014

these things work great on my 20 round pmags and give me a little something to pull them out of the pouch. I use hsgi tacos but depending on the mag pouch there is not a lot of mag body on a 20rounder to grab onto when inserted and secured in your mag pouch. So these help a bit . However if using with the hsgi tacos and 20rd pmags I would suggest using the ranger plates instead. when you slip these in place the rubber hugging the bottom of your mag holds the mag out from being inserted into the pouch all the way. I know that is hard to understand without a physical example but take my word for it. Go with the ranger plates... Im not going to slander this product because it does what it is supposed to do and will take a beating however it doesn't coordinate with my system as well as the ranger plates do.
