Magpul AFG Angled Fore-Grip

The Magpul AFG (Angled Fore-Grip) is a rail-mounted forward grip/index point designed to improve weapon ergonomics and increase shooter speed and efficiency. Unlike conventional vertical fore-grips, the AFG takes into account natural body mechanics to provide a comfortable and stable user interface, reducing fatigue and allowing for more precise weapon control. By positioning the shooter's hand high on the center line of the bore, the AFG helps mitigate recoil, facilitating faster, more accurate follow-up shots.

  • Anti-Slip Texture: Aggressive anti-slip textured surfaces provide positive grip in adverse conditions. 

  • Ergonomics: Taking into account natural body mechanics, the shape and angle of the AFG improve weapon control, help mitigate recoil, and reduce shooter fatigue. 

  • Interchangeable Inserts: Polymer three-piece design with two interchangeable inserts allow "A2-style" finger nub or "A1-style" flat textured surface depending on shooter preference.

  • Mounts to standard mil-spec 1913 Picatinny rails (min. of 5" required)

the foregrip could not fit my M4 because of the strap holder. although the magpul foregrip is very well made. i have to drill the strap holder of my m4 (rock river) because it is riveted to the upper.

I have used both the AFG and the AFG 2.  I really like both - they excel on longer handguards. I prefer the AFG on free float modular tubes because the "wings" on the side blend in better with the handguard and make it more comfortable.  The AFG 2 is slightly smaller and more streamlined, and works better on quad rails.  It is especially better if you have rail panels, because the wings on the AFG do not always fit with the larger rail covers attached.  Both products are great - I find them much more comfortable for prolonged shooting sessions than a plain handguard, VFG, or hand stop.

Also, thanks to SKD - I have nothing but great things to say about them as a company!  They are now the first place I look when I need great gear at a fair price hassle-free.  They have earned another loyal customer.

The angled foregrip from Magpul offers an interesting alternative to the 90 degree variety.  The grip looks, feels, and smells like other traditional Magpul products (like feet sweat after you've been waiting around for the UPS guy to drop your stuff off) and has smooth aesthetic appeal and durability. When used with Magpul Dynamic's shooting techniques it facilitates an alternative method for rapid target acquisition and transitional handling.  After extended use and later upgrading to the AFG2 I have found other methods to be superior.

I was wary before I received the angled grip, it didn't seem to look natural but once it was mounted the rifle was very easy to handle. Its a nice addition and rests well also on a sandbag. I have small hands and the std AFG works well for me.

Worth every penny. September 22, 2010

I purchased the fore grip while oversease and began shooting with it immediately.  It is very comfortable, easy to index, and makes controlling muzzle rise much easier to contol for follow-on shots.  I would encourage anyone who cares about their shooting proficiency to ditch that "gangster grip" handle pos and pick up one of these.  At least give it a try it's doesn't cost that much and is very easy to install.
