Mountain Hardwear Hunker 4 Season Military Tent, Coyote Brown, SKD Exclusive

Shelter is the number one priority for survival in inclement environments- then water, then food. If you have ever wanted a single person shelter system that will perform in all 4 seasons for your survival kit, this is the limited opportunity you do not want to miss.

This product was developed for Naval Special Warfare sniper/observer teams, and has never been available previously to the public in its original military Coyote color. Like most premium outdoor brands, Mountain Hardwear has on occasion produced specialty products for the Special Operations community in limited quantities that are not offered to the public. Also like most premium outdoor brands, the vast majority of Mountain Hardwear products are made overseas in large factories to leverage a wide range of commercial materials and achieve economies in manufacturing. Due to the fact that our military Special Operations units require Made-in-USA products to comply with the Berry Amendment (if you don't know what this is, Google it), often these special not-for-public items become even more exclusive by the fact that they are actually MADE HERE.

Mountain Hardwear - Hunker tent April 8, 2017

The tent is great.  It's low profile.  It is also a very generously spaced, single person tent.   Enough space for me, and my gear all inside.  It's fairly light weight for a 4 season tent too.  Packed down, it does not take up too much room, but it's farmore serious than a simple bivi shelter.  I am impressed by the construction quality of the tent and its components.    Everything was shipped accurately and fast.  Everything is accounted for.  This tent is a bargain for what you get.

If you are looking for a single person, low profile, 4 season setup - this could be right for you.

Excellent tent.  Everything with it thus far seems awesome.  I had wanted a one person/four season tent for a while.  After comparing several models from various businesses I chose the Hunker 1.

So far just airing it out and getting down how to assemble and disassemble.  It's going into use for a 3 day/2 night hike around a lake in Bend, OR.

Keep in mind that you'll need to purchase a footprint from a third party or make one yourself from Tyvek.

Thanks SKD.

As of yet, I have not been able to test this tent, but everything seems very well designed.
With this tent, I feel i am very well protected in any cold, windy and snowy environment.
Many Thanks to SKD Tactical for the very fast delivery. I will be buying more great stuff, You have, on Your website.
Many thanks,
All the Best, Jens

Web and it states the floor-70d nylon taslan, canopy-3L 40d nylon/PTFE laminate, 20d tricot mesh. Mountain hardware spec sheet it states min weight 4lbs. 4oz./packed weight 4lbs. 6oz. so there might be a discrepancy in the weight. The two cross poles overlaying the 1 main pole, provide more structural rigidity than the typical 2 pole design, also giving a bit extra space for gear. Kickstand vents on the side are great and will not collapse, as the pole gets fitted into a velcro adhering slot. 3 loops on the inside for hanging lights or other devices, the two loops on the ends are mounted right under the two cross-sections of the support poles. Poles are not as easy to mount as other newer tent designs with clips, but I guess they chose this older sleeve design because it covers the shiny metallic poles, retaining the camouflage.  It would be nice if the door in the rear had mesh, a window, a micro vestibule, but you just can't have it all.

I plan on taking this tent every outdoor trip I go on. It strong rugged just what I needed. And you can not beat the price in a 4 season tent.
