Mountain Hardwear Hunker 4 Season Military Tent, Coyote, SKD Exclusive

Shelter is the number one priority for survival in inclement environments- then water, then food. If you have ever wanted a single person shelter system that will perform in all 4 seasons for your survival kit, this is the limited opportunity you do not want to miss.

This product was developed for Naval Special Warfare sniper/observer teams, and has never been available previously to the public in its original military Coyote color. Like most premium outdoor brands, Mountain Hardwear has on occasion produced specialty products for the Special Operations community in limited quantities that are not offered to the public. Also like most premium outdoor brands, the vast majority of Mountain Hardwear products are made overseas in large factories to leverage a wide range of commercial materials and achieve economies in manufacturing. Due to the fact that our military Special Operations units require Made-in-USA products to comply with the Berry Amendment (if you don't know what this is, Google it), often these special not-for-public items become even more exclusive by the fact that they are actually MADE HERE.

Best Tent on the Market January 2, 2014
Reviewer: Julius Smith from Davidsonville , MD United States
I was skeptical at first paying this much for a four season one person tent, but after having used it recetly in cold weather conditions, I can't see myself using anything else but this. The ease in deploying the tent, I can now do it in about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, makes this ideal for quick setup when the weather turns bad on you. The interior features with pop out vents and velcro looks to hang flashlights from the roof of the tent are simple, well integrated, and durable. When packing I've also found it to be easy because of the vents on both ends of the tent it allows air to escape when rolling up the tent. When packed all together this fits nicely into my ruck. Overall the execution in design, quality of materials makes this a great tent.

Fantastic tent! November 20, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from APO, AE (Europe)
Bought this tent for the field/deployments. Just tested it for 72hrs in the freezing rain out here in southern Germany. Held up perfectly.

I initially received a defective tent. When I contacted Mountain Hardwear, they screwed around and just bounced me between MH USA and MH Europe, effectively wasting 2 weeks of my life... Contacted SKD; BAM. "Point click shipped" a new tent to me no questions asked, just had to ship the old one back to MH.

As I said, the despite the defective tent leaking, the new one that I just received is a 100% winner. No leaks, and cut the cold wind down. All thanks to SKD's amazing customer service.

Can't wait to take this bad boy to Iceland next summer!

Great tent September 20, 2013
Reviewer: John from CO United States
Havnt tested it in the field yet but set it up to get an idea of the size. Im 5' 11'' and easily fits me my German shepherd and my gear, or me and one other person and no gear. quality is great and the aluminum parts keeps the weight down quite nicely.

Hunker 4 for Backpacking September 11, 2013
Reviewer: P from PA, United States
What must be kept in mind is that this is a 4 season self-supporting 1 man tent at 5-5.5 lbs packed weight depending on your interest in organization (stuff sacks) and insistence on fully guying it out.

Great if you only want one tent to meet 4 seasons of solo backpacking need.  You can do lighter for 3-season tents, but you can't *for the cost* if you want a self-supporting 4 season tents in discreet colors.

I'm 6'4".  I fit sleeping against the main door. The foot of my bag touches the side wall, and I advise employing your rain shell over footbox to ensuring your keep dry and warm at the bottom.

There is plenty of storage in the tent with you or under the substantial fly for your gear and cooking.

Make no mistake.  There is no sitting up in this tent at my height.  You can live out of it but it's not a palace by any stretch.

Ventilation is superb with the fly protecting much of the huge main door.  Kick outs work, but more positive lock up would be a nice touch.

Superb!  Easily fits anyone 6'5" or shorter and with interior room for a rucksack/one's "gear".
