BLUF: Made for and issued to NSW (SEALS), only available here at SKD in very limited quantities. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Everyone thinks that an M4 with loads of ammo will get you through Zpoc- which is partly true, right up until the point you freeze to death because you got rained on and the temperatures dropped to minus 10 at night. Shelter is your number one priority in survival situations, and having to run from Zombies wont change that reality.

Mountain Hardwear Hunker 4 Season Military Tent, Coyote, SKD Exclusive

Shelter is the number one priority for survival in inclement environments- then water, then food. If you have ever wanted a single person shelter system that will perform in all 4 seasons for your survival kit, this is the limited opportunity you do not want to miss.

This product was developed for Naval Special Warfare sniper/observer teams, and has never been available previously to the public in its original military Coyote color. Like most premium outdoor brands, Mountain Hardwear has on occasion produced specialty products for the Special Operations community in limited quantities that are not offered to the public. Also like most premium outdoor brands, the vast majority of Mountain Hardwear products are made overseas in large factories to leverage a wide range of commercial materials and achieve economies in manufacturing. Due to the fact that our military Special Operations units require Made-in-USA products to comply with the Berry Amendment (if you don't know what this is, Google it), often these special not-for-public items become even more exclusive by the fact that they are actually MADE HERE.

Pricey tent, but do you get what you pay for? October 26, 2015

I recently bought two hunker 1 tents from skdtac and as always received them pretty fast next day shipping.  Upon arrival I opened one up and set it up in the living room, it has a pretty interesting smell once it's all setup and you climb in to test it out, I'm guessing it's the material.  Inside the tent you have a small mesh pocket that can fit a wallet, two pistol mags, a folding knife and a flashlight.  The secondary "window" doesn't have a mesh mosquito cover so I wouldn't open that when you're in a fly/mosquito infested area.  The material is nice and thick and has the rip stop pattern sewing throughout, and the frame sleeves are reinforced.  The poles and stakes that it comes with are DAC aluminum and they are a breeze to setup, I find that setting up this tent for the first time with no instructions was easy and fast.  I also have a snugpak scorpion 2 that I would compare to this tent and for the money I would go for the snugpak, the hunker 1 doesn't come with repair kit.

Awesome Tent October 26, 2015

I did a lot of research before buying it.  Too bad I was two weeks before the discount.  SKD would not credit me the sale price, but did offer free shipping on my next order.  The tent is heavy on the top, meaning great fabric.  I would not use this tent in Texas in July.  But for where I live, it covers 7 months of camping.  I do wish the bottom was thicker material.  No ground mat for it, so I found another Mountain Hardwear one that is pretty close in size on Amazon.  It is perfect in size for my dog and me.

You get what you pay for. October 7, 2015

Initially I went for a 210.00 catoma armadillo. I thought I would save some money. Well, I wasn't pleased with the product, I was very disappointed. I knew I should have pulled the trigger on the Hunker from the get go. It's a durable quality product. It comes with all the stakes you will need. If you have a small amount of common sense.. you can figure out how to assemble the tent. I'm 6'4" 220# and I fit in it fine. I'm not going to sit up in it, but its better than laying under a poncho like I used to do in the Army. If your not a hammock guy and you want more protection than a tarp or poncho provides..... This the perfect one man tent! Subdued color, low profile, Not to heavy but not real light either, durable protection from the elements. enough room for you and your gear. You get what you pay for... trust me! don't do what i did.. If your on the fence about it, just pull the trigger.

only one of its kind January 27, 2015

A very small, single wall, bombproof, easily camouflaged, four season shelter. This thing is seriously sturdy. I have no doubts it will last many many years.

things to note.

This shelter is very small, you must lay down to change clothes if its raining out side. my 90lb G shp, just fits nicely in the back side of the shelter. this would be about the size of a large ruck.

The vent rods need a Little modification to stay open in high winds, but this is simple.

There is a strange odor on the new tent. However leaving it pitched outside a week before use and it will air out.
