PIG Full Dexterity Tactical (FDT) Alpha Gloves

PIG FDT Glove Sizing Chart

If you've ever worn tactical gloves while shooting and wished for something better your wish is now reality.

Over 2 years in the making, the PIG FDT-Alpha Glove (Patented) offers ground breaking dexterity while providing much needed protection from the rigors of tactical work. Developed by a Rogers Shooting School Advanced graduate with over a decade of experience in instructing Military and Law Enforcement personnel, the FDT-Alpha Gloves were designed from the ground up to minimize impact on the shooter's grip.

Instead of following the tired old routine of reinventing the Aviator Flight Glove, or making a cool looking glove with padding and layers in all the wrong places, the PIG design team partnered with the pre-eminent designer from an industry that actually makes gloves that fit really well- the sports glove industry. The FDT-Alpha Gloves were worn in earning a Pistol-Training.com FAST Coin, an accomplishment previously considered nearly unobtainable while wearing tactical gloves.

Featuring several industry firsts, the FDT-Alpha allows unfettered access to all your firearms controls and manipulations, without the overwhelming bulk of unnecessary padding and layers. When it comes to gloves you can shoot with, contrary to most of the other tactical gloves on the market, less IS more the less you feel your gloves, the better you can shoot with them.

FEATURES (* indicates industry firsts for a tactical glove):

  • *Single Layer Multi-Piece Palm- Designed specifically so that only one layer of material contacts your shooting grip.
  • *Sensitized and Isolated Trigger Finger- The thinnest available Clarino material available, only on the trigger finger for ultimate sensitivity.
  • *Selective Forschette Material- Inside forschettes are ventilated for maximum wicking. Outer forschettes are Clarino for durability.
  • *Low Profile Hook Closure- Reduces abrasion on clothing.
  • *Flex Joints- Enhanced flexibility and ventilation on each finger.
  • *Dual Flex Joint Trigger Finger- Providing maximum flexibility where you need it most.
  • Bar-Tacked Para Cord Pull Loop- YES, NOW BAR-TACKED...
  • Short Cuff- Lightweight comfort and convenience.
  • Micro Suede Nose Wipe- Fights against cold-weather drip.
  • Ventilation holes in Palms and Fingers- Increased wicking.
  • Isolated Edge Padding- Protection without compromising the shooting grip.
  • Wrap-Over Finger Tips- Provides additional comfort and protection for finger nails.
  • Stretch Ballistic Nylon 1000D Padded Knuckles- Stretch ballistic nylon reduces pressure on the seams, thin padding takes the edge off of impacts.

While the PIG FDT-Alpha Gloves will be some of the highest quality gloves you own, given the nature of the job we expect them to do, they are NOT designed to outlast the Apocalypse. We believe that the trade off in extreme dexterity and sensitivity for perceived durability is well worth it, and far better than the old-school "cut off the finger tips" or "go bare handed" solutions.

At the end of the day, the PIG FDT-Alpha Gloves are a consumable product that will provide the user with the best tactile dexterity available in a tactical glove, and should be worn to destruction, then discarded and replaced. The selection of super sensitive materials and extremely tight seams mean that these gloves will eventually wear out, and there are no warranties implied. Please try them on and inspect them thoroughly for fit and finish before removing from the hangtag, but be forewarned, you will not want to take them off.

FAQs

Q: These gloves seem tighter than my other tactical gloves, is that OK?

A: YES- the PIG FDT-Alpha gloves will fit snugger around the hand by design. We have removed as much loose material in the patterning process to achieve a solid "bare-back" feel when shooting. As long as the gloves are not so tight that they are uncomfortable when your hands are at rest, you'll be GTG.

Q: Why are the palms and knuckles Black on the Ranger Green and Coyote glove models?

A: Our multi-piece palm uses 2 different thicknesses of Clarino which are only available for both thicknesses in Black or White. In order to keep these gloves as affordable as they are, we had to use materials that were easily available to the sports glove manufactures we worked with. Gloves do not take a lot of raw material, but ordering custom colors requires a tens of thousands of yards of material, and matching the colors on this initial model glove would have driven the cost of these gloves well over $100.

Q: I thought all PIG Tactical gear is Made in the USA, why not the gloves?

A: We wanted terribly to have these gloves made in the USA. The heart-breaking and tragic reality is that there are NO manufacturers in the USA that are capable of making gloves of this complexity. While PIG gloves are designed in the USA by AMERICANS, sports glove manufacturing has been outsourced overseas for decades to the point where we no longer have the capability. The choice was make them overseas, or not at all, and we felt these gloves were important enough that they had to be made regardless of country of manufacture.

Q: Why are these gloves not FR?

A: The FDT-Alpha gloves are aimed specifically for the utility glove market, represented by gloves such as the Mechanix which are also Non-FR. We are working on an FR model, which we hope will be out late 2012.

Q: Why don't you offer a warranty on these gloves?

A: Gloves used in a tactical environment are a consumable item, plain and simple. You can't expect to handle hard metal objects regularly and have something hold up forever, especially when they are specifically made with thin materials for sensitivity. However, we price these gloves low enough so that they can be worn to destruction, then discarded and replaced without breaking the bank.

That being said, we have a prototype pair that were worn over the course of over 20,000+ rounds being expended through various firearms, including 2 separate week-long shooting programs (Mid-South & DARC), and an entire warehouse move that involved tearing down and putting up scores of pallet shelving units. They've also been washed over 5 times. They are still going strong after a solid year of use.

Q: I've used them hard and put them away wet, and they are now pretty funky- how do I wash these?

A: Throw them in the washing machine with a normal load of laundry, your normal cycle, your normal detergent, no special treatment needed. Be sure to close the wrist strap so the hook Velcro doesn't aggravate other fabrics in the wash. Yes it is low profile hook, but prudence dictates you should still try and cover it.

I am a big fan of Mechanix Original & Vented gloves, but I just found my new favorite glove! These fit snug, no extra material, great finger movement. Another fantastic product offered by SKD. Fantastic customer service and a great supporter of ARFCOM and it's members! Thank you

Skin tight and perfect for fun at the range! They keep your hands dry and allow a strong tight grip on your firearm. I honestly didn't expect them to work so well.

    Nothing wrong with the originals

Posted by J Desh on 14th Feb 2016

These are still great gloves. I know that everyone is moving on to the Alpha touch and the FR models, which I have also purchased, but the originals are still really good gloves for range day. You can't beat the price and I've noticed that after they get a little worn, you can answer your phone with them just fine. I hope that these gloves don't get phased out. Shopping and shipping with SKD as always, is great, I live in the STL area, I order one day, the next day it's here.
