Excellent product - worth the price and hassle May 3, 2013

Yes, putting them on is a PAIN in the ass. You need to really work the malice clips to get them flexible first. Then follow the youtube video. Take your time, work the pliers, watch out for the shock cords, and be patient.  If you're not sure where you want to mount them, do NOT weave the malice through the middle molle on the taco. Just run the malice straight down through the molle on your belt/carrier.  They will stay on ok like that and you can test it to make sure you want them there, then re-thread them properly later.

Also, HSGI's smoke green color is a very, very close match to the Mayflower APC Ranger green, which was nice.

Giving it a go April 22, 2013

Seems like these magazine pouches are popular in the local training groups because they allow a single rig for multiple magazine types. I really like the ITW fastmag for it's low profile and quick draw, so I figured I'd give these a shot for a chest rig, and to play with a battle belt. First - mounting these puppies is a real PITA, and there's no included instructions for routing the malice clips through and around the bungies - thank you YouTube. Inserting magazines is a bit more difficult than the Fastmag, and corners of the plastic at the pouch sides needs to be filed a bit - great place to bust knuckles. I was however impressed that they do accommodate both a 5.56 and 7.62 Pmags easily. I have a feeling these are going to be useful on a belt setup where I periodically use rifle mags, and then I'll stick with separate chest rigs for 5.56 and 7.62 mags - but we'll see.

Good pouches April 20, 2013

Love the tacos, it fits all of the PMAG/AK/FAL mags I have. The only cons is the price and the bungee retention kit should be included.

Tacos rock! April 18, 2013

Its a USGI taco.  Enough said.  These thing are great but a pain to thread the malice clips.  Being able to use one mag pouch to train with what ever mags you want is nice

Single mag pouch March 25, 2013
Reviewer: KG Laws from USA
Have had several single and double mag pouches, but none as versatile as this.  These definitely make it easier to change weapon systems without having to change or rearrange your kit.  I have run different types of AR/M4/M16 mags, M14/M1 and AK mags with out a problem.  They are held securely in place, and yet still easily and quickly accessed.  Well made and though out piece of kit.  Thanks.

Excellent piece of gear March 24, 2013
Reviewer: Gabriel Ulibarri from Albuquerque, NM United States
Im using this on an ATS War Belt primarily for AK47 Mags and it works great.  Plenty of retention for heavy steel mags and sits low enough that it stays out of the way but allows fast reloads.  If you happen to be running the Fat Tapco mags they will fit too. The malice clips were a little difficult to work with but the youtube video suggesting using needle nose pliers is the way to go. great piece of gear!

Taco March 19, 2013

The design is great but the MOLLE straps on the back are a bit to close together making it hard to setup on some kit. I had a hell of a time getting the plastic straps thru to mount on a backpack.

Versatile pouch March 14, 2013

Nice design. Overall a great pouch and does hold the mags very secure. I used the Malice clips to secure to a standard 1.5" gun belt and it worked well.
My only complaint so far is that the pouch is a bit deep for belt use and speed reloads. A dedicated kydex pouch may be better for speed work but I am planning on ordering more taco's and getting the raven belt mount system to run them in my upcoming tactical rifle class.

I think it's a good piece of kit overall.

TACO Mag Pouch February 26, 2013
Reviewer: Bart from Va
I liked the idea for the pouch, but found the elastic/bungee cord to be the weak link. I like HSGI products, but after taking them for a test run do not think they would hold up. The bungee is looped/woven a way that it is not easily adjusted. I also found that if the magazine snagged on anything (small brush in the prone and top of a wall while going over it) the bungee would stretch and open the pouch like a accordion and either rip out the magazine or it would smack back.

Versatile pouch! January 10, 2013

This pouch is what I needed for  VEPR-12 (AK platform 12 gauge shotgun) magazines. Holds the magazines tight. It also holds regular AK mags on the same rig with no problem. Do you tape two 5.56 magazines jungle style? They'll fit right in.

As stated, these were, forgive my French, a floop de la floop to put on. The strap through which you need to weave the malice clip is only 1 molle column wide; it is 2 columns with the middle sewn shut to separate into 2 individual columns. Many other pouches will leave the middle unsewn, leaving a little maneuver room to weave the clip.

Once on, though, it is rock solid. I ordered 9 pouches to replace war belt and chest rig, and this setup will accommodate AK, AR, M1A/ M14 and other .308, Saiga-12/ VEPR-12, Akdal 1919, and possibly more without the need to switch anything out. Great magazines for almost any application where you'd need open top magazines with good retention.
