I ordered the VTAC 13" alpha rail for my newly made .300 blackout upper.  I actually ordered the 15" one before I got this one since the company I ordered the upper from accidentally made it with a 14.5 in barrel.  I wanted the rail to come directly to the muzzle break.  well the 15 inch went past the ports on the break and that didn't work out.  The 13 inch rail fits perfectly.  Since I have the SJC titan comp on it the blow back from the first ports just misses my hand.  Which is nice because I don't want to lose the man hair I have on my knuckles.  The rail made it the upper extremely light.  I have a magpul frg and a surefire x300 on it and its lighter then my 5.56 upper.  I love it, but noticed since there are only three contact points to screw it in, it does flex a little bit during heavy drills.  Thats my only gripe.

Small dia grip is very suited for overhand grip out front on rail.  

I shaved a FSB to fit under the rail and it is very low profile inside.  I had to grind the GB a second time to get it to fit as it was a smaller ID than I expected.

Attachment is solid, but be sure to use locktite on the screws.

There is no side sling attachments. The larger rail does have one but is too much weight and space if using for that purpose only.  The VTAC QD sling mount works great on the tip rail for a low profile setup.
