Great for females January 13, 2013

As a female contractor deploying to Afghanistan, I bought the BAE RBAV-AF, with the Velocity Systems plates and soft armor. I can't say enough great things about the comfort of this kit. There aren't a lot of great options out there for women, and typically I end up wearing things that are a few generations behind the males, and very boxy. This kit is very lightweight, and the Velcro bands inside at the waist let me keep the body armor snug around my hips so it doesn't feel like it bangs around or lists strangely while on. When I'm sitting, the kit pushes up somewhat, but doesn't start to hit me in the chin. And the service was great!

Bought this rifle plate to place into Mayflower carrier. The plate is lightweight 6.6lbs and LVL IV with soft armor. Much lighter than MSA AL203 single curve LVL IV stand alone which weighs 8.25lbs. Also the multi curve plate feels better than the single curve.

Clipped corners make this super comfy. Good compromise between weight and thickness.

VS Level III/IV Plate June 14, 2011
Reviewer: Justin Humpich from YORKVILLE, IL United States
I have been using this plate for about 4 months now and have nothing but great things to say about it. I'm a police officer and I use this particular plate as the front plate in my plate carrier I take on patrol.

Things I really like about it:
1) Lighter than the plates I used on deployments
2) Thinner than the plates I used on deployments
3) Great price point for a level III/IV plate
4) The curves/cuts make it very comfortable and unrestrictive

The plate is backed by soft armor panels and the plate carrier is worn over my soft armor carrier so having such a thin plate was extremely important to me and this was definitely a great choice.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the velocity systems plate. I have about 96 training hours wearing this plate and as expected it is still in perfect condition and has always been comfortable even on the longest of days.

Great Value! June 13, 2011

I have used the Velocity Systems Lvl III/IV plates in a couple classes this year with my new Mayflower APC.

After looking at numerous different hard armor options out there, I went with these because the "balance" that they have.  What I mean is plates that are lighter weight are usually both thicker and more expensive.  Plates that are thinner usually don't give great ballistic protection and are also more expensive.

With these, I believe there is a great balance of weight, thickness, and cost that can't be beat. Also, the cut of the plates allows for full range of movement for shooting.

Plus speaking with the guys at Velocity Systems was very informative and they put my mind at ease as far as how these plates perform.
