Ultralight Superlight June 25, 2014
Reviewer: Bret M. Territo-Threat Dynamics LLC from Baton Rouge, LA United States
I've been an ultralight backpacker for 40+ years and I often apply that philosophy to my tactical gear...that philosophy being to use the lightest gear possible that will get the job done. The Petzl Tactikka is a piece of gear I've used on the trails virtually since it was introduced and I've now incorporated it into my professional setup because of its light weight, efficiency, and ease of use. I would prefer a blue or green night vision lens instead of red, but I suppose it doesn't matter. Petzl has quit manufacturing the basic Tactikka to provide additional features in its heavier replacement that I don't need or want. Leave it to the French to stumble upon perfection then surrender it for a heavier, more expensive, more difficult to use product.

Not sure? August 15, 2012

I had one of these before, same looking design from petzl. I lost the previous one on an FTX. This one doesn't have the intensity settings or strobe effect, just off and on. It isn't a big deal, but I did like being able to make it less bright.

Excellent working light June 14, 2011
Reviewer: Alexander Muller from Stockholm, Stockholm Sweden
I felt like I needed a light that's neither a tactical EDC nor a weapons light that I could use when I needed a focused light while working on technical items.

It's great for everything from actually using it as a headlamp to mounting it inside your admin pouch for nighttime map-reading, navigation, etc. without losing your night vision.

+A lot of light for the buck
+Red lens allowing to spare your night vision while working
+Long battery life
+Sufficient strength white light when a focused beam is needed

-Bulb started to flicker very soon after purchase

The reason it gets a 4 and not 5 is due to the bulb flickering very early since I bought it, but I really do believe that I just got a lemon.

Handy light helps you get stuff done! September 25, 2010
Reviewer: Kutter_0311 from Green Bay, WI United States
This was my first headlamp, and while I've now tried a few others, still my favorite. Fits snug and comfortably, red lens doesn't draw bugs when they are otherwise a problem. Cheap headlamps from Wally World are OK for the occasional small job, but most are pretty cheap and bright white light draws bugs like crazy! My Petzl usually has the red lens up when I'm working outside after dark; it draws fewer bugs, and less attention from the neighbors. When I need to see down the block, I drop the red lens and it lights up EVERYTHING! Fit and finish are excellent, no flopping or slopping, pivot locks firmly to desired angle. An excellent light!
