SureFire E1B Backup LED Flashlight

The Backup is an ultra compact dual-output flashlight developed as a duty light for plainclothes officers or as a backup light for patrol officers as described in SureFire's Tactical Trinity®system for law enforcement, but is also ideal for outdoor, self-defense, and everyday use. It features a virtually indestructible power-regulated LED emitter and a precision Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens. The Backup's pushbutton tailcap switch lets you activate the flashlight and select an output level: press or click for an 110-lumen high beam—four times the light of a big two-D-cell flashlight, and more than enough to overwhelm an aggressor's night-adapted vision; release or click off and press or click again for a 5-lumen ultra long-runtime low beam that's perfect for reading a map, checking an ID, or navigating in the dark. The E1B Backup produces useful light levels for 37 hours. Smooth body styling minimizes pocket snag and pressure points when worn close to the body, and the two-way clip allows bezel-up or bezel-down carry.

  •  Virtually indestructible LED emitter regulated to maximize output and runtime
  •  Two output levels—high for maximum light, low for extended runtime
  •  TIR lens produces tight beam with enough surround light for peripheral vision
  •  Coated tempered window resists impact, maximizes light
  •  High-strength aerospace aluminum body, Mil-Spec hard-anodized for extreme durability
  •  Dual-output tailcap click switch—press for momentary-on high, click for constant-on high; return to off then press or click again to select low
  •  Two-way clip permits light to be carried bezel up or down
  •  Weatherproof O-ring and gasket sealing
  •  Includes high-energy 123A battery with 10-year shelf life
  •  Max Output: 110 lumens
  •  Low Output / Runtime: 5.0 lumens / 37 hours*
  •  Tactical Runtime*: 1.3 hours
  •  Length: 4.00 inches
  •  Weight: 2.80 ounces
  •  Battery: One 123A lithium
*Total runtime (at highest setting for multiple-output flashlights) until output drops below 50 lumens

Great Alternative to M300 Scout Light June 26, 2012
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Alexandria, VA United States
I bought the E1B along with the UE07 Remote tailcap Switch as an alternative for the Surefire M300-- because I knew I wanted to replace the mount anyway.

I'm really happy with the set-up as now I have a very low profile weapon light that I can still use as a hand held when needed.

EDC must have! June 30, 2011
Reviewer: Christopher Watkins from Sumter, SC United States
The SureFire Backup is a must have for EDC.  Dynamite comes in small packages and blinding light does too with the SureFire Backup LED. I take this little light everywhere because it does take up much space. Its in my suitcase whenever I fly and clipped in my front pocket at all other times. The light does get hot after extended periods of use but remeber it is a Backup not a primary....supposedly.

Other uses would be to mount this on a carbine and run it as a weaponlight. If you are looking to build a KISS or lightweight carbine and need a weaponlight, I would try this one.

I would recommend this light to anyone looking for a EDC flashlight or as a secondary to LEO. Being very light, durable and bright I don think you could go wrong with the SureFire Backup LED

Surefire E1B for EDC February 18, 2011

SKD.com told me my review was to long, and it was, so I think I'll just go post it on M4Carbine.net.

Anyhow, I'l sum it up: This light is tough, bright, easy to use, easy to carry, lightweight, versatile, has a great warranty, and is made in America. It would be nearly impossible to go wrong buy buying this light.
