Surefire X300U-A LED Weaponlight (600 Lumens)

by Sean
This is truly the pinnacle of weapon mounted flashlights. It is so bright I call it a punch to the face. In 2008 I ended up being the smallest guy present on my team when we raided a village in northern Afghanistan. The place turned out to be a jackpot. We found enemy munitions hidden all over the place. I had to crawl into a small chasm under this one hut. I ditched my armor and had a pistol, a headlamp, and a surefire (G2 flashlight in my mouth - Joe is the G2 the one we sold back then??). It still rings true in my memory as one of those true pucker factor moments. I promised myself I would never carry a weapon again that did not have a light on it. Surefire has been the brand I trust my life with since early 2000's. The X300u is Surefire tough, lives up to the brand, and is so bright it could probably kill a vampire, but I haven't tested that theory.

The powerful and versatile SureFire X300 Ultra WeaponLight features a high-performance LED that generates 500 lumens of stunning white light focused by a Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens to produce a tight beam with extended reach and significant surround light for peripheral vision. The virtually indestructible and highly efficient LED generates tactical-level light—more than enough to overwhelm an aggressor's dark-adapted vision—for 1.5 hours per set of batteries. The high-strength aerospace aluminum body is Mil-Spec hard anodized for superior toughness and is O-ring and gasket sealed to make it submersible to 22 meters.

The X300 Ultra is also versatile and can be attached to a pistol or a long gun since its Rail-Lock® system permits rapid attachment to and removal from either Universal or Picatinny rails. Its integral ambidextrous push/toggle switch provides one-finger operation for either momentary or constant-on operation. Optional DG grip switches are available for use with a pistol, and an XT07 tape switch permits the X300 Ultra to be activated when attached to a long gun without altering your grip on your weapon.

Fits: Handguns and long guns with Picatinny or Universal rails.

Burning 500 to 600 lumens, you can burn the eyebrows off superman with this light. You flip this on pointing towards the sun, you probably blind the poor star. Great product, in my personal experience it's better than the streamlight with lumens, weight, and re-holstering. It can be easily attached and detached, which I love because I'll switch the lights on multiple of my handguns.

The tan X300 Ultras seem to be a little hard to find, but SKD had one. Good fit on my IWC offset rail, easy access with both hands with the rear switch. The light is a bit yellower than on an original X300, but still plenty bright enough, and I like the pattern it throws. Great light!

Surefire X300 Ultra - First Impressions December 21, 2015

The SF X300 weapon light does what it says it is supposed to do.  If you have a Glock 19, it fits no prob, using the universal mount (it comes with it).  If you have a Sig P220, there may be issues, unless you know this tip.  There is a plastic piece on the battery cover than can be removed by pushing out the little pins on either side of the cover.  Just take off the cover to do this.  It can easily be put back on.  Look for the YouTube vid and check it out.  If you remove the black plastic piece (on the battery cover) , and shove the light on the Tac Rail of the p220, it will lock in.  Surefire didn't include that little nugget of information.   Don't worry, it appears it was designed that way, but Surefire didn't identify that in the instructions.  The light is bright, and if you have a P220 Combat (FDE) it will totally look badass.  I gave 4 stars for the product, for that issue.  SKD service and speed of shipping get 5+ stars though.  You can't go wrong with SKD.

As good as they say October 7, 2015

You know the drill, everyone uses this light and now that I have my own I see why. I mounted it at 12 o'clock on my AR and use the momentary on feature to operate. 500 lumens is overkill indoors washing everything out white but I can live with it. I mainly planned to use it outdoors on rural land and the focused beam in perfect for that. I think I'll stick with my $100 Streamlight TLR-1 for the nightstand pistol though.

What can I say? High speed, low drag. If you were to somehow flow into the sun, and then take a flaming shot of Bacardi 151 while simultaniously using a MIG welder (without a helmet, of course.) it would pale in comparison to this light. I have one on my AR and the other on my duty pistol. I'm about to get a third for no reason. If you're trying to decide between a Streamlight or Insight Tech or something like that, just no. Don't cheap out on things that keep you safe from that "Bump in the Night". I placed my order at 22:40 and SKD had it out the door the next morning before lunch. Always a good buying experience with SKD.
